If you need an answer right now, start with the tools already on your computer. On Windows, combine the About page with Task Manager. On macOS, combine About This Mac with Activity Monitor. These checks take only a minute or two and do not require another app.
The first screen tells you what hardware and operating system you have. The second shows what the computer is doing at this moment. If you want both kinds of information gathered into one readable view, Sliprail's System Pulse can create an on-demand snapshot after the built-in checks below.

A high number is a clue, not a diagnosis. Use the following distinctions before deciding that something is wrong.
A brief CPU spike is normal when an app starts, a page renders, or an update runs. Look for usage that remains high while the computer is otherwise idle. Task Manager and Activity Monitor are useful here because they keep updating.
Modern operating systems use available memory for caches and release it when applications need it. On macOS, memory pressure is often more useful than the used-memory total. On either platform, growing swap use can be a sign that active apps need more memory than physical RAM can comfortably provide.
A nearly full system disk can reduce working room for updates, temporary files, and swap. Heavy disk activity is a separate question about current reads and writes. Check capacity in Windows Settings or macOS Storage, and check activity in Task Manager or Activity Monitor.
A browser with many tabs, a video editor, a virtual machine, or a development build can use substantial resources by design. Confirm what the app is doing before closing it.

The disk card is about used capacity on the root or system disk. It is not a live disk read-and-write graph. Use Task Manager or Activity Monitor when you need that level of ongoing detail.
Opening System Pulse starts one collection and produces one timestamped result. The values do not keep refreshing in the open report, and Sliprail does not build a history from these snapshots. Open System Pulse again when you want a new reading.

If you need a trend over hours or days, alerts, thermal analysis, or evidence for a hardware fault, use a dedicated monitoring tool or the support tools provided by the computer manufacturer.
The snapshot is available without generating an AI report. After it appears, you can click Generate AI summary if you want a plain-language recap.
This AI step runs only after that explicit click. When you trigger it, the collected snapshot is submitted through Sliprail's AI request flow as input for the summary. The AI summary is therefore not a fully local operation, and you should use it only when you are comfortable having that snapshot processed for this purpose.
Treat the result as an explanation of the displayed information, not as a diagnosis. It can make unfamiliar terms easier to understand and suggest areas worth checking, but it does not prove why a computer is slow or whether hardware is failing.
Use Task Manager or Activity Monitor when you need changing graphs, detailed per-process activity, or a closer look at a slowdown that is happening now.
