File Downloader

Use File Downloader when you already have a direct link to a file and want Sliprail to save it without going through a browser download flow. It is built into the Sliprail desktop app for Windows and macOS.

File Downloader accepts HTTP and HTTPS links. A webpage that asks you to click another download button is not itself a direct file link, so copy the final file link when the site provides one.

Download a file

1. Open the Sliprail launcher with your global hotkey
2. Type DownloadFile
3. Press Space to enter parameter mode
4. Paste the direct HTTP or HTTPS link
5. Press Enter

For example

DownloadFile https://example.com/archive.zip

The download starts immediately in the background and is saved to your system Downloads folder. Sliprail does not ask you to choose another folder. Closing the launcher does not stop the download.

View and manage downloads

Type DownloadManager to view current and previous downloads.

From Download Manager you can:

• Check download status and progress
• Open the Downloads folder or the location of a completed file
• Copy the original link
• Abort an active download
• Retry a failed or canceled download
• Delete one record or clear all records

Aborting a download is not the same as pausing it. File Downloader does not support pause, resume, or partial-download continuation, so Retry starts the download again from the beginning.

Important limits

• File Downloader is available in the Windows and macOS desktop apps, not Sliprail Web
• It accepts direct HTTP and HTTPS links only
• Files always go to the system Downloads folder
• Deleting a record does not delete a completed file. Clearing all records aborts active downloads but also leaves completed files in place
• Download records stay on the current device and are not synced to the cloud
