Usage Statistics

Usage Statistics gives you a private, local view of the Sliprail actions that replace repeated manual steps. It helps you understand which launcher actions you use most, how regularly you use them, and how much time they may save without turning Sliprail into an activity monitor for your computer.

Usage Statistics is enabled by default. Data begins to appear as you use supported actions in the Sliprail desktop app.

Open Usage Statistics

You can open the dashboard in any of these ways:

  • Open the Sliprail launcher, search for UsageStatistics, and run the built-in command
  • Open Sliprail Settings and select Usage Statistics
  • Open the Sliprail tray menu and select Usage Statistics

The dashboard opens in its own resizable window.

What Sliprail Counts

Sliprail adds one local event when it starts one of these supported actions:

  • Launch an application from the launcher
  • Switch to an open window from the launcher
  • Run a shortcut or sub-shortcut
  • Use a supported window-management action, such as maximizing, minimizing, or tiling a window, hiding the current app, or quitting the current app

Usage Statistics is not a general activity log. It does not measure how long an application stays open, how long you work in a window, or every action performed on the computer.

Read the Dashboard

Choose Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or All Time. Most totals, daily data, category breakdowns, and action rankings follow the selected range. Current and longest streaks use all retained history, regardless of the selected range. In the All Time view, the daily chart still shows the most recent 30 days.

The dashboard includes:

  • Total uses and average uses per active day
  • Estimated time saved
  • Active days, current streak, and longest streak
  • A daily usage chart
  • Up to five most-used actions
  • The share of usage from app launches, window switching, shortcuts, and window management

How Estimated Time Saved Works

Sliprail assigns a fixed, conservative estimate to each recorded event:

  • App launch adds 6 seconds
  • Window switching adds 3 seconds
  • Shortcut adds 12 seconds
  • Window management adds 4 seconds

The dashboard adds these values together. It does not measure actual elapsed time, so the result is a reference rather than a guarantee of time saved or productivity gained.

Create a Share Image

After the selected range contains at least one event, select Share. Sliprail creates a PNG summary with total uses, estimated time saved, active days, the current streak, and a recent activity chart covering up to 14 days.

The image is generated locally in the app. You can copy it to the clipboard or save it as a file. Sliprail does not upload the image or publish it automatically. Once you send the copied or saved image through another service, that service's privacy rules apply.

Turn Recording Off or Delete Data

Use the switch at the top of the dashboard to stop recording new events. When you turn it off, Sliprail lets you choose between keeping the existing local statistics and clearing them at the same time. Kept statistics remain available to review, and you can turn recording back on whenever you want.

Select Clear Local Statistics to permanently remove all usage events stored on the current device. This cannot be undone.

Privacy Boundaries

Usage statistics stay in the local Sliprail database on the current device and are excluded from Cloud Sync. Each event stores its action category, readable display name, a hashed identifier used to group repeated actions, the fixed estimated time-saved value, and the time the action occurred.

The original app, window, or shortcut identifier is not stored in the usage table. The hash is a stable grouping value, not encryption or complete anonymity. Display names remain readable so the dashboard can show your most-used actions, which means someone with access to your local Sliprail data may be able to see which apps or named actions you used.

Sliprail does not record or upload launcher search text, shortcut parameters, clipboard data, or file contents as part of Usage Statistics. Viewing the dashboard, changing ranges, and creating a share image do not upload the stored events.
