Sliprail Tutorial

This tutorial walks you through your first session and the most important Sliprail interactions. By the end, you will be able to launch apps, run commands, use Nora, and add extensions to match your workflow.

1. Choose how to use Sliprail

Install the desktop app on Windows or macOS, or start directly with Sliprail Web. The desktop app provides system features such as a global hotkey, window switching, and local file search. The Web version gives you convenient access to Nora, bookmarks, snippets, and online extensions.

Visit the Sliprail home page to download the version for your system. Open the app after installation to begin your trial.

2. Open the launcher

The desktop app can open the launcher from anywhere with a global hotkey.

  • Windows uses Win + Space by default
  • macOS uses Option + Space by default

You can change the hotkey in Settings. To use Command + Space on macOS, first release the shortcut currently assigned to Spotlight. See the Hotkey documentation for detailed steps.

3. Search and run

Open the launcher and type an app name or command keyword. Use and to select a result, then press Enter to run it.

Use continuous characters when searching for an app. For example, type googlechrome or chrome instead of Google Chrome. Sliprail treats a space as the action that enters parameter mode.

You can also narrow the results with filter characters.

  • Type / to show commands only
  • Type [ to show open windows only
  • Type # to show apps only

See the Launcher documentation for more input rules and keyboard actions.

4. Run commands with parameters

Type a command keyword, press Space once, enter the parameter, and then press Enter.

For example, type nora, press Space, and enter a question to start a Nora conversation. The text before the space identifies the command, while everything after it is passed to that command as its parameter.

Keep this rule in mind when using the launcher.

  • Use continuous characters for search
  • Use a space to separate a command from its parameter

5. Try common features

Start with these features to build your everyday workflow.

6. Use Nora

Type nora, press Space, and enter a question to open Nora from Sliprail. You can switch models, upload files, search the web, generate images, and call external tools through MCP.

Read the Nora documentation for the complete feature guide, or continue in Nora Web.

7. Add extensions and personalize Sliprail

Open the Sliprail Store to browse extensions that add commands and workflows to the launcher. Settings lets you enable or disable extensions and adjust the theme, proxy, and other behavior.

Next steps

You now know the core Sliprail workflow. Visit the Sliprail documentation whenever you need complete configuration and behavior details for a feature. If you are ready to create an extension, start with the Developer Overview.
